I've spent the past four days in a rather special Volvo XC90. This car is the result of Volvo South Africa wanting to produce something completely unique.
There are All-Terrain tyres from BF Goodrich, a Front Runner roof rack with a spare tyre, LED light bar, a spade and a Sand Lizzard rescue track to assist when going off-road.
Cosmetically this is a D5 Inscription model that has been wrapped in matte black and finished with orange accents. The interior is pretty standard fare bar the orange seatbelts and logos on the interior carpets.
The result is something that would look right at home in a post-apocalyptic landscape. The amount of attention that this car commands is comparable to something far more exotic. I had many people approaching me about the car during my tenure.
While this is not the type of thing that the brand will pursue from a sales perspective, but it is great to see how a sophisticated Swede can be infused with some bundu-bashing credentials.
